STA-CON capabilities for designing and developing control panels are extensive. We have partnered with numerous customers across varying industries to provide quality, reliable units that meet varying specifications and standards. A recent customer in the Tertiary filtration industry commissioned us for a wastewater filtration control panel design and development project.
This control panel was designed to operate and control two filter units, each with one filter drive and one backwash pump. To achieve this, we developed a 480 volt, 3 phase unit with a 5 HP backwash pump and a 3 HP filter drive. Measuring 60″ high x 36″ wide x 12″ deep, the stainless steel panel featured alarm contacts that signal for notification of failures, an automatic restart in the event of a power failure, circuit breakers and a surge protector device. We also included a control power transformer to reduce a higher voltage to a lower voltage, and control panel heater to prevent condensation buildup, motor starters, alarms, and an emergency stop button. These elements are critical for the safe operation of the panel and safety is a crucial component in all of our designs.
Upon completion of the control panel, it was tested at site voltage, and all field devices and operations were simulated prior to shipment to the customer. The unit passed our inspections and met UL508A and UL698A standards. The customer’s expectations were exceeded and we were pleased to showcase our capabilities in wastewater process controls in addition to transport.
