STA-CON builds high quality custom control systems for a variety of uses. Our craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to innovation have earned us the trust and respect of our customers. One of these customers commissioned us to manufacture this gas igniter control system. This system required us to meet very specific standards and engineering requirements, as well as utilizing our programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, and commissioning capabilities.
The system was made of stainless steel, measuring 36″ high x 24″ wide x 10″ deep, and featured a PLC, master control relay (MCR), and control relays. It also included an E-Stop button, local start and stop push button, and push to test pilot lights that were oil tight, corrosion resistant, and had hermetically sealed contacts. We developed one local panel containing the PLC and one remote panel using remote IO to communicate back to the main PLC. Powered outputs were provided to operate the igniters, sparkers, and block valves. Remote contacts were incorporated to interface and provide valve and igniter status to the Burner Management system.
Very specific standards were set forth for the gas igniter system. Certain components required Class 1, Divisions 2 ratings. Programming of igniter sequences conform to NFPA85. The timeframe for project completion was also very strict. We met all of the system requirements, tested the panel at site voltage, and all field devices and operations were simulated prior to shipment.
This project was the perfect example of STA-CON delivering high-quality, reliable, innovative control systems. Contact us to learn more about this project or to speak with our team of experienced engineers.
